Sundays: A Day of Adventures and Relaxation

To spice up your boring Sundays, I present a short itinerary for a more interesting and relaxing day out. Palar, located just 60 kilometers from Chennai, en route to Pondicherry. The first landmark you'll encounter is the iconic Palar bridge.

கள்ளு (Toddy) Morning:

To fully experience this, you'll need to wake up bright and early, around 4:30 AM, and make your way to the designated spot to savor fresh, pure palm toddy. The sight of towering trees at this early hour creates a serene ambiance, and enjoying the toddy on an empty stomach is truly a divine experience.

After spending some time, we made our way back to the Palar check dam, which unfortunately wasn't in working order. To reach it, take a small left onto a sandy road that resembles an off-road trail, spanning about 2 kilometers. At the end of this road, you'll discover the Palar river flowing downstream, forming a serene pond where you can swim in the running water. Surrounding you will be a picturesque scene of birds and cranes perched atop the waterfalls. Swimming in this natural setting provides a truly unique and rejuvenating experience.

As we geared up for our adventure, my friends and I were filled with excitement. After enjoying the water until we grew tired, we traveled 8 kilometers to KathanKadu, where we indulged in home-cooked meals prepared over open fires. My personal favorite is their Fish Fry, which pairs perfectly with their village-style rice and fish kulambu, creating a delicious and satisfying meal.

Another set of activities is Panaiyur Beach and Kuppam

Waking up at 7 AM, we prepared for our next adventure. Our fisherman friend, Dinesh, a native of Paniyur Kuppam. He graciously offered to take us out to the middle of the sea, where we could jump in and swim. To ensure we were fully prepared, we stocked up on necessary liquors the night before for our stay at sea.

In the morning, one group, along with Dinesh, headed to the Injampakkam fish market to purchase fish for frying, prawns, and chicken. These ingredients were then handed over to Dinesh's family, who would cook them for us to enjoy during our time at sea. After engaging in various swimming activities, we returned to the boat to feast on the delicious meal prepared by Dinesh's family. We savored our food and drinks for long hours before finally heading back around 4-5 PM.

If you wish to replicate this experience, I'll provide you with Dinesh's contact information - 9384649483

Sometimes, we plan shopping days as well. Our itinerary typically includes lunch at the renowned Erode Amman Mess in Velachery, followed by a stop at Spencer. Later in the evening, around 9 PM, we indulge in delicious kulfi from Nagaraj Anna Kulfi Ice at Marina Beach before heading back home for a good night's rest.

If anything of this doesn't work, then weekends will be in Pondy.
